One year in Atle's life. Incidence and outcome.
LIVET ER FOR KORT TIL Å TA DET ALVORLIG!
Atle våknet etter denne drømmen, men var i tvil om det virkelig var en drøm eller om dette hadde hendt:
Atle kom til et fremmed land og kunne ikke språket. Dermed ble han satt på et språkkurs og var svært fornøyd med det.
Han kunne ikke alfabetet i det fremmede landet og fikk bøker som han (selvsagt) ikke kunne lese. Læreren snakket kun språket Atle skulle lære, og Atle forstod (selvsagt) ikke et ord. Kort tid etter ble han meldt opp til en prøve i samfunnskunnskap etter å ha deltatt i en ukes undervisning (som han ikke forstod i det hele tatt). Han strøk (selvsagt) med glans til denne prøven, men fikk vite at han hadde to sjanser til.
Etter et halvt år med språkkurs forstod han fremdeles ingen ting. Etter mange forsøk kunne han skrive navnet sitt riktig. Han var flink til å kopiere, men lese navnet sitt var ikke lett selv om han hadde skrevet det over hundre ganger. Han hadde også kopiert en lang rekke setninger på det ukjente språket med ukjente bokstaver, men kunne (selvsagt) ikke lese noe av det han hadde skrevet.
Han fikk underhånden vite at andre i samme situasjon hadde gått på skole hele 2000 timer uten å lære verken å lese, skrive eller snakke språket.
Heldigvis våknet han av drømmen, men den var så virkelig at han måtte klype seg i armen for å sjekke om han virkelig var våken…
LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO TAKE IT SERIOUSLY!
Atle woke up after this dream, but was in doubt whether it was really a dream or if this had happened:
Atle came to a foreign land and did not know the language. Thus, he was put on a language course and was very happy with it.
He did not know the alphabet in the foreign land and got books that he (of course) could not read. The teacher only spoke the language Atle was to learn, and Atle (of course) did not understand a word. Shortly afterwards, he was enrolled in a social studies exam after attending a week of teaching (which he did not understand at all). He stroked (of course) with brilliance for this test, but was told that he had two more chances.
After half a year of language courses, he still did not understand anything. After many attempts, he was able to spell his name correctly. He was good at copying, but reading his name was not easy even if he had written it over a hundred times. He had also copied a large number of sentences in the unknown language with unknown letters, but could (of course) not read any of what he had written.
He eventually learned that others in the same situation had gone to school for 2,000 hours without learning to read, write or speak the language.
Luckily he woke up from the dream, but it was so real that he had to pinch his arm to check if he was really awake…
