I really doubt if classical Chinese acupuncture works at
all. And I have been doing so for a long, long time. Despite the elaborate system
on how and where to insert the needles, despite the many hundreds years of
experience with acupuncture, I think it is only an impressive assembly of
knowledge that has not very much to do with the real world.
The Chinese are infamous for believing in magic of various
kinds. No surprise if acupuncture just is another sort of magic. This article in the Guardian about acupuncture – ”Acupuncture useful,
but overall of little benefit, study shows” is worthwhile reading. See http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/2012/sep/10/acupuncture-useful-little-benefit-study
