”The Impact of Gravity and Electrically Charged Particles – a Speculative Approach”

The heading is kind of pompous, Atle likes pompous headings!

Atle is interested in almost everything. Now he is ruminating (cow-style) on what goes on when he from time to time tries to think (with more or less success), that is tries to follow a string of thoughts on a clearly defined subject. Where do all the deviations come from? May they origin from the impact of gravity and electrically charged particles?

This is a mission in the vast and unknown inner space of matter. What goes on in there?

Atle’s starting point is that everything consists of particles (the sun is a huge particle, a quark is a minute particle) which attract or repel other particles. When we look around we see solid things, stones, trees, whatever. Now I am sitting at a table, and it seems solid to me. I press my finger on the surface of the table and it feels very hard. But I know that most of the table is empty space. If I were able to compress the table so that there was no empty space between the particles which make up the table, I would not be able to see the table even in an electronic microscope.

A thought or an idea is kind of similar to a space vehicle on its way through an empty space. It takes energy to make the thought move. All the way its course on its mission is influenced of particles near and far, their gravity and their electrical charge. No wonder it is difficult to follow a straight line of thoughts.

Atle’s thinking ability is at its best not too long after eating. Then his brain literally is filled with energy. If he is very hungry or dehydrated his thinking capacity is low.

Innovative thinking and performance need lots of energy, and should not last very long before you take a break. The break can be very short, but it has to be a break. If you are learning something complicated which you want very much to learn it very often is better to restrain you eagerness and not go on and on till you are exhausted. What I mean is that the real learning takes place during the breaks, in the equilibrium between the activities.

AND HERE IS ATLE’S CONCLUSION, A BIT RASH, BUT ATLE LIKES CONCLUSIONS OF THE QUANTUM LEAP TYPE: The reason to this is that during activity your mental energy is getting low; the electrically charged particles which make thinking possible are discharged. In short you go on doing the same things from which you learn almost nothing.

”You’d better stop this ruminating, Atle! Before you arrive at the point of no return!!!”

”Thank you for your reminder! I’d better go running now…”

MISSION ABORTED! At least for the time being.
