According to this website, (which probably is reliable) about the coronavirus pandemic, as of January 28, 2021, 101,458,805 cases are registered (how many unregistered cases we do not know). 2,184,712 deaths are registered (we have to keep in mind that lots of fatalities are due to pre-existing conditions).
Worldometers says that there are 25,919,500 active cases of which 25,812,165 are mild. 110,303 (0.4 %) are serious or critical.
There are many questions, and more answers than questions. Some years from now WHO may present conclusions based on facts.
